Our First Walmart Experience

I ventured out again for a "quick" errand to Walmart. I parked close to a lonely cart in the parking lot and unloaded my crew. As I pushed the cart accross the parking lot the shaking of the cart on the rough pavement scared the babies. Collin and Bryce were sitting closely in the basket of the cart and Collin reached over and held on to Bryce's neck. Bryce was probably so freaked out by the cart that he didn't care but I think he has a kind heart and wanted to comfort his brother. Once we got inside the store and on a smooth surface everything was okay. They did so good and enjoyed checking out the lights, people, sounds, etc.

We checked out and headed to the car and that is where the real story begins. I roll my basket of babies and groceries to the car, unload all of my groceries, put Collin in his carseat and realize it is kind of hot and I should probably start the car. I have a remote start on my key ring but you must lock the doors to start it so I lock the doors(you see where this is headed), start the car and load Bryce in next. After I get Bryce loaded I slam the door closed so I could push Addison to her side of the car and put her in her carseat. That's when it hits me, "the doors are locked and my babies are in the car." To make it worse, I left my cell phone at home so I immediately start searching the parking lot for a friendly face. I see a nice young lady with her mom and baby and I beg them to let me use a cell phone, "I just locked my babies in the car"! The only number that I have memorized is Steven's and he is in a meeting so I know he's not going to answer an unknown number but I knew I needed him. I asked the sweet lady if I could keep calling and finally on the third try he picked up, "Steven, I locked the boys in the car, I'm at Walmart, come get me"! Steven's on his way, Walmart employees are coming out to "help" and my car only stays running for 10 minutes with the remote start. The boys did good and I watched them through the windows the whole time. Bryce cried a little because he saw me just standing there. Collin would just smiled at me, he probably thought it was funny! By the time Steven got there the car stopped running but the boys were fine. I was embarrassed that I did something so stupid but I learned my lesson and promise I will be very cautious about using my remote start again!

I locked clay and the dog in the car at my inlaws WITH Josh standing right there. We had to get a locksmith. Clay just took off his shoe and chewed on it...I was ready to smash in the window!!!

OMG!!! Not sure how I would have reacted. The BEST thing about my Nissan is that it will not let me lock my keys in the car. There is a sensor that detects the key if it is still in the car and the door won't lock. So glad you were able to get help. Good thing you were here in Brenham and not out of town!

next time try remembering to roll a window down so you have an easy entry into the car...with three little ones that's just one more added thing to remember but it might help!!

Oh honey! Bless your heart!!! Last week I was busy trying to get things packed for our trip out of town. Left the gate to the stairs open. Totally belligerent parenting. Jake FELL DOWN THE STAIRS! Ok, only to the second stair, but STILL! I couldn't breathe I was so terrified. I called Mary Lou Zeiders and David came over to check Jake out. He was fine, but it was a very tough mommy lesson. Glad you guys are ALL ok. :)
