Big Girl

Our little girl is growing up fast! Several months ago she started using the potty and wearing pull ups. She has been really good about telling us when she needs to use the potty. She's even learned how to "hold it" and looks so cute doing the little dance trying not to go! Her teacher sent a note home yesterday that said we could start sending her to school in PANTIES! Our first reaction was, oh my gosh, she's not a baby anymore. Then the reality of not buying diapers anymore gave us some excitement! Today was her first day in big girl panties and she wasn't so sure about putting them on. I showed her two (one pink and one with butterflies) and said which one do you want to wear (trying to make it a big deal) and she said "pull up"! I finally got her pink panties on and made a big deal about it. When I picked her up from school she still had the same clothes we sent her to school in so she was accident free all day! We are so proud of our little girl and very thankful for her teachers that had a large part in her potty training success.

Our New Home

We moved to a new (old) home the weekend before Christmas. It was a busy time of year but it worked out well with Steven and I having two weeks off. After a month of being in the house we are getting settled and have begun several projects to update our 1960's home. Altough Steven and I have a few differences in opinions about the house, it has been great! The neighboorhood is a large reason why we wanted this house, its a quiet street with large mature trees and there are a lot of young kids on the street. I lived in the neighborhood for a short time when I was younger and can remember riding my bike around the neighborhood and I look forward to the day our kids get to do the same! We are also excited about the extra space this house has compared to our old house, we still have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths but we have a dinning room (which is currently being used as a playroom), breakfast nook/eat in kitchen area, an enclosed covered porch area and my favorite a laundry room. Our living room is double the size of our old living room which now can accomadate more than the 5 of us. We have big plans so the house will be a work in progress for a while but when its all done it will be worth it!

Christmas Eve the kids wore their Santa pajama's to bed and were excited about the presents Santa was going to bring them Christmas morning. When asked what Santa was going to bring them they said "presents"! Santa was happy to not have high expectations this year!

I probably no longer have followers since its been a month since my last post but we've been a little busy the last month. Here is a recap since my last post:

Thanksgiving Tailgate

I'm a little behind on my post but we had a wonderful Thanksgiving tailgating with family and friends. At the last minute my dad got tickets for Steven and I to go to the game so we enjoyed tailgating with the kids, got them back to Brenham and then made it back to watch an intense football game between Texas aTm and Texas.

Ring Dunk

It's a tradition when you receive your Aggie Ring that you dunk your ring in beer. Lindsey kept to tradition and dunked her ring after the game with her childhood friend Dixie. Both girls are not really fans of beer so they filled their mugs with a little less than the traditional 4 beers! The tailgate was so much fun that Bryce fell asleep in Kelcie's arms and Addison and Collin did everything they could not to fall asleep.

Aggie Ring Day

An Aggie Ring is a treasured possession among Aggies and when an Aggie completes enough hours to receive their ring its a big deal! Aunt Lindsey received her Aggie ring Friday and we could not be more proud of her! The alumni center was packed with thousands of people as our group of 13 (Lindsey, Travis, Alan, Myrna, Alison, Kevin, Sally, Gary, Steven, Adrienne, and the triplets) attempted to make our way in to watch Lindsey receive her ring. After she got her ring we headed back to her apartment where Travis had a wonderful meal waiting for us.

Bryce thought he was getting a ring too! He kept saying "Bice get wring too". As we went in the people putting stamps on the paperwork gave Bryce and Collin an aggie ring stamp. They were both very proud of their stamps.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Last week Steven and I met with the kids teacher, Mrs. Schmidt, for our parent teacher conference. She agreed that we have three very different individuals even though they are triplets! These are some of the things we discussed:

Addison

is very timid yet attentive to what the teacher is doing or saying.
doesn't talk much but has recently started saying "just fine" when asked "hello frisky frog how are you"!
will clap and dance to participate
still "me centered"
follows routines and directions
is doing well with using the potty
will listen with interest to stories read aloud

Bryce

is respectful
has a difficult time dealing with his emotions (a polite way of saying he can throw major tantrums when he gets upset about something)
is a pleaser
comprehends and communicates well
a little more cautious about things
did really well at catching and throwing in gross motor (which daddy was very proud of)
still "me centered"
colored a picture and identified it as a "circle" and the color "green"
Mrs. Schmidt said during story time Bryce will sometimes lay down and do his own thing (day dream or what ever) but is never disruptive

Collin

is fearless
confident
doesn't like to clean up
can gallop, jump and hop
communicates the best (out of the three of them)
still learning to control his feelings and use his words to resolve conflict (we have had a few problems with biting)
for following classroom routines and directions Mrs. Schmidt said "he does his own thing"
colored a picture and identified it as a "picture" and identified one as a "leaf" and the other as a "circle"

If you know our children you know that the teachers have identified the three of them pretty well! We are so fortunate to have such loving and caring teachers to take care of our children, the kids love Mrs. Schmidt (Ms. Mit) and Mrs. Connie (Ms. Tonnie) which makes taking them to school that much easier. The teachers have made this transition for all of us a great experience.

The local radio station has an annual Halloween Party and they award prizes for children who are home early from trick or treating. This year we had contestant forms sent home in the backpack so I thought I would enter Addison, Bryce and Collin in the contest for the first time. At about 8:45 (way past their bed time) Bryce got a call from the radio station and because he was on a sugar high he was still awake to talk to the witch and be on the radio.

The witch said we caught this sweet little boy just before he heads off to bed. Bryce is a student at St. Paul's Christian Day School. While she was saying this Bryce was trying to tell her who his teachers were, Mrs. Connie (Ms. Tonnie) & Mrs. Schmidt (Ms. Mit), and he repeated it about 3 times. I finally stopped him and translated for the witch. The witch then asked how old he was and he quickly and proudly said "tree" (3) but he's 2! She then told him he won a $20 Walmart gift card and 2 #1 Sonic meals which is the perfect prize for him. He told her thank you (tank u), she said Happy Halloween and Bryce attempted to say Happy Halloween (I can't even translate how it came out but it was nothing like Happy Halloween). He was so excited to talk to the witch and we were proud of him for actually participating in the conversation. I was a little worried the only thing he was going to say was "Hi Pawpaw" which is what he said when he first got the call before he was put on the radio.

......the Wonderful Wizard of Oz! For halloween this year Addison, Bryce and Collin were dressed as Dorothy, the Scarecrow and the Lion from the Wizard of Oz. They haven't seen the movie but it was one of my favorites as a child. Addison loved her Dorothy dress, its was the perfect girly costume for her, with a sequin dress, a bow and a basket to carry around! Bryce wasn't thrilled about putting on his costume at first but he wore it proudly once it was on and got rid of the hat as soon as he could. Collin was a lion that needed a little courage! He didn't want to put the costume on and then once it was on he kept unzipping it to try and get it off. Friday night we went to a halloween party and about 30 minutes after we got there I turned around and he was sitting on the floor in the middle of the party taking off his costume. We dressed the kids in their costumes several times, we had a Halloween party Friday, Sunday and Monday we took them around to family and friends trick or treating so they got pretty good about wearing the costumes by Monday evening. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera Monday and the battery went dead Friday so these are the only pictures I have that turned out half way decent.

Maurer's Annual Hayride

We went to the homecoming parade last week and came home with enough candy to keep our kids on a sugar high for a week or more! Collin enjoyed running for the candy and filling his bag, even with the pushing and shoving from the "big" kids. He waved at the floats and would jump up and down when he got a piece of candy to put in his bag. Bryce and Addison were happy sitting back and letting their cousins fill their bags with candy.

Friday night we sat under the lights of the football field to watch the cubs win! I can't say that Addison and Bryce sat much, they prefered to move from one person to the next until the homecoming court took the field. Addison sat and watched them take the field and told me "pretty"! Collin on the other hand sat and watched most of the game, he occasionally changed laps but stayed focused on the field. He would cheer and get excited when the cubs scored and when the band came out he said "march".

Friday night we cheered on the cubs at the football game against Waller. The kids did great and really enjoyed watching the game, cheerleaders, band and drill team. Mommy packed plenty of snacks to keep everyone happy but by half time we were ready to go.

School Fundraiser

We have attended this fundraiser many times in the past for our nephews and niece but this was our first fundraiser as parents of SPCDS children. Steven worked a shift driving a gator to help transport people to and from their vehicles. Since Steven was working I had the help of Granny, Grandpa, and Myrna to keep up with the kids. We had a good time eating, playing games, and watching the big kids sing.

This week we had the kids school fundraiser and all of the parents are asked to help by bringing something for the bake sale. The frisky frogs parents were asked to bring 1 dozen homemade cupcakes per child so that meant we needed 3 dozen homemade cupcakes. I had big plans to make cute homemade frog cupcakes until I realized I just didn't have that kind of time. When I got home at 6:30pm Wednesday evening I started making our cupcakes and by 11:00pm that night, with the help of Steven, Alan and Myrna, we had them individually placed on plates and wrapped with celophane. By 9:00pm I was questioning why I didn't do what any good mother would do and just buy cupcakes and wrap them. Thursday was the fundraiser and I drop the kids and their cupcakes off in the drive thru (the cars behind me probably wondered if I would ever stop unloading kids and boxes of cupcakes). There are lots of advantages and disadvantages to having multiples but I would say this is one of those times that it requires a lot of extra work on our part and our life can be a little overwhelming! A big THANKS to Steven, Alan and Myrna for helping me get this done, with out them who knows what time I would have finished!

Aggie tailgates are something we have taken the kids to since they were about 4 months old. This year was a little easier because they were able to run and play with their cousins without us following them around. They played so hard and didn't stop for a nap so we had three tired and worn out kids by the end of the day!

I've chose to share this story so we are able to look back at it for years to come so please do not judge us for our poor parenting technics or report us to child protective services for what you are about to read. We have this hide and seek bunny that was given to the kids as a gift. It has a carrot and your supposed to hide with the carrot and the bunny will come find you. It will cover its eyes with its ears while you hide and then the ears go up and it starts to move to come find you. I have to admit this bunny is not a cute and fluffy bunny its more of a chucky type creature! The kids have been terrified of this bunny ever since we got it. I could not keep them out of the snack cabinet one day so I decided to put the bunny in the cabinet. When they opened the door they quickly closed it back and took off running and crying. Ever since we have used it when we want them stay out of something. The other day they were in the garage and would not come in so we made the threat that they better get inside or that bunny's going to get you. It worked like a charm and they were in the house in no time. On one hand this bunny has become a great tool for Steven and I but I do feel a little bad that we may be scarring our children for life! When the bunny came out the other day Addison jumped on the couch, Collin hid behind a chair and Bryce was frozen in fear. When the bunny moved they screamed and cried so we put the bunny away and everything was okay. I just pray we don't give our children night mares over this scary bunny!

It's Washington County Fair time and that means lots of animals, carnival food, and the lights and sounds of the carnival rides. We made an attempt at going to the fair on Wedenesday but after we had a blow out on the wagon we had a change of plans and went Saturday instead. The wagon worked perfect for our bags and keeping the kids contained so I'm glad we waited until our wagon tire was fixed! The kids enjoyed looking at the animals and eating fair food. The frisbee dog show was a big hit with the kids, they had front row seats standing along the short fence and they clapped and laughed at the dogs tricks. They were a little affraid of the animals in the petting zoo but quickly petted a few of the animals before we left. We watched the crazy tractor races and walked through the carnival. Their faces were frozen in shock of all the rides and sounds, Bryce stuck his fingers in his ears as we walked through the carnival and said it was loud. I asked several times if they wanted to ride a ride and all they did was stare at the rides, I'm sure we will be dragging them away from the rides in a few years!

Sunday School

I am ashamed to admit that over the last two years we have not attended church on a regular basis. Not that we haven't tried but when they were smaller it was either feeding time, nap time or we just needed our sleep. Needless to say getting three kids under the age of two to behave and sit still in church didn't provide us with a spiritual feeling and just left us stressed. Even though we haven't attended church like we would like we have tried our best to instill our religious values in our children by teaching them to be kind to others and to say their prayers. Sending them to a religious school was also important to help teach them Gods love. Now that they are two they are able to attend Sunday School for the first time. Steven and I went along and enjoyed seeing them interact with others.

Weekend Guest

Last weekend Daddy had his fantasy football draft with the guys. Our good friends the Beaird's were in town for the draft and got to stay the weekend with us. Their little girl Adyson just turned two so we had 4 two year olds and 4 adults in the house all weekend. The kids did great playing together and it was great catching up with our friends.

To add to our busy first week of school we went to Meet the Cubs Wednesday. Our nephew, Dalton, will be playing football for the first time as a 7th grade cub football player so we went out to watch him run across the field with all the 7th grade football players. The kids enjoyed hanging out in the stands with their cousins and clapping and cheering for all the cub athletes, cheerleaders, band memebers and drill team.

First week of school in review

Addison had a excellent report everyday. She ate well and napped well each day. I think she enjoyed school once she was there. Tuesday we left the house and Addison cried the whole way to school, I thought it was because she left something at home that she wanted but she wouldn't tell me what she wanted so we went on to school. Mrs. Winkelmann pulled her from my arms crying, kicking and screaming. The rest of the week was about the same as she was taken out of the car crying!

Bryce is definitely our sensitive one and his report most of the week said "sad". The first two days he refused to take an afternoon nap but laid quietly during nap time. Tuesday Bryce got out in the drive thru just fine and was smiling ear to ear as he walked in holding Mrs. Winkelmann's hand. The next day was a little different and as soon as we pulled into the drive thru of St. Paul's he start crying and didn't want to get out of the car.

Collin is Mr. Independent and enjoyed school once he got there. He had an excellent report everyday. Tuesday as we pulled in the drive thru and before I even stopped the car he said "bye momma" and got out in the drive thru without any trouble but the rest of the week he followed suit with his brother and sister and started crying.

Steven and I were both excited to pick the kids up from school to see how their first day had gone. I snuck up to the window in their classroom and Collin quickly saw me and took off running towards the door. All three were in good moods and happy to see us which made me fill much better! The First Day of School

The first day of school started like any other morning just a little earlier! We asked several times "are you ready for school" and we got the answer of "yes", "Daddy's school", "Mommy's school" and even a couple of "no's" so they didn't really know what was happening. Steven and I both took them to school and walked them into their classroom. Since they were the first to arrive they got the teachers undivided attention so Steven and I thought we could quietly slip out. As the door closed we heard Bryce run to the door and scream and cry. I left crying and cried several times throughout the day. Daddy was relieved but was excited to go get them at the end of the day. I called once in the morning to check to see how things were going and got this report, Bryce was fine, Collin was crying and sitting next to the teacher and Addison had a small melt down when someone tripped over her but was all better. Needless to say I was counting down the hours and minutes until we could go pick them up.

Today was the first day of school and our Frisky Frogs were up early and ready to go to school. We did the typical pictures by the front door before we left and everyone seemed excited about going to "school".

Mommy had backpacks and clothes laid out and ready to go for the first day.

We woke the kids up at 6:30 (much earlier than the 8:00-8:30 that they were used to) but Daddy had a yummy breakfast waiting!

Tomorrow the kids will go to "school" for the first time! On Friday we took them to meet their teachers. When they got into their classroom they went straight for the toys, didn't really want to talk to the teachers and had a couple of fights over toys. I'm still not sure how the first day will go but I know they will be with some great teachers!

Aggie Family Fun Night

Wednesday we went to the local Aggie Club Family Fun Night. It was hot but it was fun getting together with other Aggies and its just a reminder that football/tailgating season is right around the corner.

Addison's hair has grown very little over the last 2 years. She has yet to have her first haircut but its finally long enough that we were able to put it in small pigtails. She looked pretty cute but I'm not sure what she thought about her new do!

School Supplies

Now that the kids are starting pre-school we have our first school supply list to buy. After multiplying the list by 3 I realized I may need a wagon to get all of these supplies to school. I obviously bought in bulk and I can only imagine what our school supply list will look like in a few years!

Changes in the Siemsglusz Household

The Siemsglusz household will soon be experiencing many changes. I will be going back to teaching at Krause Elementary School as a math interventionist, so my time as a stay at home mom is quickly coming to an end. Since getting the job I've experienced every emotion possible, happy, sad, anxious, nervous, excited, etc. On one hand I'm very excited about my new job (especailly since the terrible two's are in full swing) but on the other hand I am really going to miss being at home and spending this time with our precious children (just typing the words makes me teary-eyed)! Once we get our routine figured out I know it will be fine. There may be a lot of tears shed the first week, by me probably not the kids, but it is what is best for all of us. I will have a plate full with a full time teaching job, a part time real estate buisness and still being a mom but it impowers me knowing I can do it all! Steven's reality will have some major changes as well since he will no longer be able to wake up 20 mintues before he has to be at work and he will probably no longer come home to a cooked dinner (not that he always does). He will now be helping with morning routines and even more daily chores. The kids will begin pre-school at St. Pauls which will begin Aug. 22. They will be Frisky Frogs and we are excited that they will have Mrs. Schmidt as a teacher. I look forward to the things they will learn and the friends they will make. Last week each of them got a letter from their teacher welcoming them to the frisky frog class.

We all look forward to this next chapter in our lives and we hope the transition is as smooth as possible!

Splashway Waterpark

With three 2 year olds we didn't make any extravagant summer plans but wanted to get out of the house and do something fun. Yesterday we made a day trip to Splashway Waterpark, its only about an hour drive and its ideal for toddlers and young children. The kids started out slow but quickly figured out how much fun the slides could be. Collin was the only hesitant one, he reluctantly went down each slide once but he enjoyed his time splashing in the water. Bryce and Addison were very independent and would run to the top to go again even cutting in front of older kids and getting away with it!

Summertime is a great time to catch up with my teacher friends so today we had a playdate with our kids. Just a few years ago I never thought the three of us would have 7 kids! My friend Trisha and I go way back, she and her husband were married the same day as Steven and I, we had a bridal shower together and 4 years later she found out she was pregnant with twins, a month later we found out we were having triplets and had our baby shower together. My friend Jessica and I also go way back as we struggled through fertility issues together, only a month after the triplets were born she was blessed with her little ham Jake. So if you tally that all up that is 6 TWO YEAR OLDS! The three mommies survived and I'm so glad we got a chance to catch up!

Our children may be triplets but they are different in so many ways. An example of this was brought to my attention when they were eating hamburgers the other day.

Bryce ate his layer by layer, first the top bun then the meat patty and then the bottom bun. And he eats everything like he is in a eating contest, shoving in the whole bun and then chewing and swallowing as much as possible. As soon as he gets it all shoveled into his mouth he will ask with a mouth full "more"! I hate to see what our food bill is when they are teenagers.

Celebrating our Freedom

We had a busy weekend celebrating our Freedom. Saturday we made a quick trip to Llano for the Michalewicz Reunion, we had a nice visit with family despite the Texas heat. The kids kept cool most of the time by playing in the water sprinklers. We loaded the kids up around nap time and by the time we got back to Brenham we were refreshed and ready to go again.

Once in Brenham we had another get together with close family friends, this group used to get together every Sunday to play Volleyball, they took summer trips together and their kids grew up together. Now the "kids" are the ones playing volleyball and another generation of kids are growing up together!

My college roommate finally moved back to the Houston area and we are excited to have them closer so we can see them more often. After moving back she started Spaghetti Thursday, they invite different people over every Thursday for you guessed it - spaghetti! Everyone that knows me knows how much I love pictures and now that I have three very active toddlers it is harder for me to pick up the camera and capture those great moments or get a posed picture of us. And like most mothers I never end up with a picture of me in it. My talented good friend Robyn has always taken beautiful pictures of her little ones and when she decided to go into the photography business I knew she needed to take pictures of our little family. I thought our crew may drive her out of the photo business but she was a professional and so patient with our family. She was dedicated in finding the perfect place and made sure we had the perfect props. She even made a cute little bow tie for the boys that she thought would go perfect with the popcorn pictures, she was right - see Bryce's picture below! This morning she surprised me with a sneak peek and I just love the images she caught!

More celebrating!

Our kids had a week of celebrations for their birthdays. Starting with their party with family and friends on the 4th. Then on Addison's actual birthday Mommy and Daddy took her to lunch at McDonald's while the boys stayed with Grandpa. On the 8th Steven and I were going to take the boys out for lunch but Addison didn't want to be left out so we all went to lunch at Las Fuentes. That night we had family over for yet another celebration. We were all worn out by the end of the week but we enjoyed celebrating our three special blessings.

At the age of two our trio is growing in so many ways. They are getting a bigger vocabulary every day but still have moments of babble that sounds so serious you want to know exactly what they are saying. They love to point out airplanes, baseball fields, and trucks. The terrible twos are in full swing and its a daily occurance to have melt downs and kicking screaming tantrums over the smallest things. Our days can be very stressful and exhausting but it is all worth it!

Addison is very shy, she will turn her head the other way so she doesn't have to look at someone, talk to someone, or let them talk to her. She loves all things girly including braclets, sunglasses, shoes, bows, etc. She even loves trying on clothes, I brought home clothes for her to try on and she smiled the whole time, waving at her daddy showing off her new things.

At her 2 year well baby doctors visit she weighed 23lbs. (10th %tile) and was 33 1/4 inches (30th %tile)

Bryce has the biggest, kindest, and most tender heart. He is the first to say "Love you Mommy/Daddy" or "bless you Mommy/Daddy" if we sneeze. He likes to please his brother or sister by making sure they have a toy, drink, etc. He is so cute when he refers to himself by name, he will point to himself and say "Bice". He loves to laugh and make others laugh.

At his 2 year well baby doctors visit he weighed 29lbs. (75th %tile) and was 35 inches (75th %tile)

Collin is Mr. Independent and will wonder off and do his own thing, most of the time its a "boy" thing. He loves dirt, water, and pretty much anything messy. He enjoys golf and baseball and can hit the ball pretty good according to his daddy. He is also our wild child and run around yelling, jumping, and screaming. He is still very possessive over certain toys and usually demands he gets what he wants which usually puts him in time out.

For 2 years I kept the tradition of taking a monthly picture of the kids on our couch to compare how they've grown each month. Well I'm happy and sad to say we've taken our last picture. The last couple of months have been very difficult to get all three to take a picture so I've made the decision to only take a picture once a year on their birthday instead of every month. It was fun to watch the monthly changes for the first two years and I'm glad I have the pictures to look back on. Below are the best pictures I could get for their 23 and 24 month old pictures.

The photo booth was a big hit! We borrowed the backdrop from Steven's school and I bought several hats, glasses, clown noses, ties, and wigs for people to dress up in. Some were willing and some were forced into taking a picture but after the work I put into getting this together I made sure I got pictures of almost every family! It was really fun watching kids and adults acting silly and the pictures will be fun to look at for years to come.

This week the kids turn 2 and we celebrated this weekend with a carnival themed birthday party. I promised Steven that I would tone it down this year but one thing led to another and well I may have went a little overboard. I only have to throw one party a year so why not make it as fun as possible for kids and adults! When I decided to go with the carnival theme I started finding things I could borrow and the ideas kept coming. We had games, roller coaster rides, a photo booth, carnival food and more!

For the games we had bean bags, tattoos, ring toss, baseball throw, roller coaster rides, a photo booth and a bounce house.

Our Concessions included fresh popcorn, cotton candy, peanuts, pretzels, animal crackers, lollipops, clown cookies and a big top cake of course!

We had plenty of drinks for such a hot day!

We had the best carnival food - hot dogs and nachos!

Collin's First Haircut

Tuesday I took Collin for his first hair cut. He didn't have much to cut but the back of his hair was getting pretty long. I decided we better get it cut before he got a serious mullet. He did really good and sat in the chair like a big boy. He turned around to watch another lady get her hair washed but he sat still so Valerie was able to cut his hair. It took a total of about 5 minutes to cut the back and a little around the ears and he was done.

Maifest Weekend

So my post are a little behind but after volunteering for Maifest and for Track and Field Day at Steven's school, studying for my real estate exam (which I passed), planning a birthday party and keeping our house of 5 functioning I'm finally getting around to downloading pictures from almost a month ago.

Saturday we had lunch at the Brenham Airport to celebrate Brett's birthday. The kids enjoyed watching the planes take off except for the loud ones, those scared them a little. The malts were also a hit!

Easter Weekend was filled with family gatherings, egg hunts and lots of food. It is a little exhausting getting our family of 5 to and from place to place but we enjoyed seeing everyone and even happier when everyone slept really good Sunday night! Addison seemed to have the egg hunts down and did a pretty good job of putting the eggs in her basket. Collin thought the eggs were balls and prefered to throw them rather than put them in his basket. Bryce would pick up eggs for a little while but got distracted and went to play with something else before all of the eggs were picked up. We now have enough candy to last us until Halloween which is not good for my diet!

Good Friday at the River

My family has had a place along the Llano River ever since I was a little girl and over the years it has been a meeting place for family gatherings. Good Friday we made the quick trip to the river to once again gather with family. The kids enjoyed cooling off in the river, an egg hunt and lots of running around on the deck.

We found a shallow sandy spot in the river and let the kids splash around in the water. They love baths and playing in water so we thought they would enjoy it a little more than they did.

Collin dove in pretty quickly and was not affraid to put his face in the water. Addison was a little more hesitant but eventually splashed around in the water close to mommy.

Bryce did not want in the water but we got him to this rock and he splashed around a little but never left the rock.

Community Fitness Walk

Since Steven has to work the community fitness walk I thought I would take the babies and get a little exercise in. I borrowed a jogging stroller from a friend and it worked perfect, both boys were able to ride and I never heard a peep from them they just enjoyed the ride. Addison helped Daddy pass out medals while we walked our mile+. I saw several friends as I walked around the track so it was fun catching up as we walked.

22 Months Old

We are on the count down to two, birthday party plans are being made and the terrible two's have begun. At 22 Months Old Addison, Bryce and Collin are talking more, throwing a lot more fits, and just into EVERYTHING!

They call each other by name now, Addison and Collin call Bryce, Bice. Collin kind of comes out Tolin, and Addison is still pretty hard.

They haven't mentioned poop poop or potty as much lately so we've taken a break on the potty training but still take them if they say it. I figure it will be easier when they are really ready and we're "really" ready!

They know what blanket, cup, fork, etc. is theirs and when another one takes "their" blanket, cup or fork they just scream until they get it back!

They can hear a choo choo before anyone and will make sure everyone else hears it. They love puppies and can spot a puppy on tv, walking or even if they hear it barking. I don't know how many times a day we hear choo choo, puppy puppy!

They are learning to pray before meals. As soon as momma sits down at the table they will remind us "pay, pay" and they all fold their hands. If I get up from the table and sit back down we have to pray again.

Taking away toys from each other is an everyday occurrence.

The boys seem to love on Addison more, I've caught Collin several times just sitting next to Addison with his arm around her. It is so sweet!

Last week we were invited to an Easter Egg Hunt. I was really surprised at how well the kids did picking up eggs. They carried their baskets almost the whole time and somehow they knew how to open the eggs and that something was in them. So after picking up the first egg they were wanting to see what they got! They had fun playing with their friends and running around Dr. Dietrich huge lot.

When we got home from running errands the other morning our nieghbor was outside working in his yard so I walked over to say hi with all three kids. He had his sprinklers running and it didn't take long for the kids to start running through the water. They were quickly soaked and having so much fun I just couldn't stop them. Eventually I got them out of his yard. I had to strip all of their clothes on the front porch and I finally got them in the house kicking and screaming.

While I was getting dressed the other day I thought the kids were playing in the playroom but when I came in the living room this is what I found. Every tissue in the box was pulled out and shredded in pieces.

I have really dreaded the whole potty training thing and haven't planned on starting potty training until this summer when they turn 2 but recently Bryce has started to tell me when he is about to go poop poop. I figured that was a sign I should at least work on it. If he says poop poop we go running off to the bathroom and try to get him used to the potty. Well I didn't think we were being very successful until Tuesday night and he actually did it! We are by no means potty trained but its a small step to getting ~~a pay raise~~ out of diapers!

I took the kids downtown for their annual picture with the Easter bunny. We got there early so we could maybe get them to warm up to the bunnies but that really wasn't the problem, they just really didn't want to sit still and take a picture. Bryce tried to walk off several times and Addison burst into tears over who knows what! We will see how the photographers pictures turn out but this is a little of what I got.

The babies were all red faced after playing outside for most of the afternoon so I thought popsicles would be the perfect treat to cool off. Thank goodness I thought ahead and took off the clothes and got the blow up water animal park ready. Addison and Bryce really enjoyed their popsicles but Collin wasn't sure what to do with his so most of his melted and hit the ground.

For a small town we are very fortunate to have great parks and spring break seemed like the perfect opportunity to take advantage of them. The antique carousel at Fireman's Park was open all week and since the kids are a little older and love horses I thought they might enjoy it. Every other kid runs to the horses in excitement but not our kids, they screamed and cried pretty much the whole time! Once we left the carousel everyone was fine so I guess we will try again next year. The playground on the other hand was a hit and our kids are fearless. We had a great time and enjoyed spending the morning with Laurie, Amy, Mary, Rosie, Shawna and Brady. After the park we all headed to CiCi's for a pizza buffet and then home in time for a nap. We must have really worn them out because that was the best nap they took in a really long time!!!

Our second attempt wasn't much better but you can at least see everyones face. I love how Mary is trying to gather all of the younger kids!

And I had to include this picture. If I tell Addison to hold Bryce's hand she will grab him and not let go. Sometimes he will let go or he gets away from her and she throws a fit! I'm really trying to work on the holding hands thing because its safer for them to stay together especially when I can only hold two hands. I also think it is cute when they walk together holding hands!

Spring Break

Our Spring Break was productive, fun and relaxing. We accomplished several things on the dreaded "To Do List", Mommy escaped for a girls day of shopping and Daddy got away for a little golf. We also fit in a lot of family time and took the kids to the library Monday for Family night with Ms LouLou. Tuesday we met up with my old college roommate and her kids at the park to ride the hobby horses and play on the playground. Wednesday we celebrated Granny's birthday and Friday we played in the water in the backyard! It may not sound exciting to most but for 1 year olds it was a lot of fun and Mommy (and the kids) really enjoyed having Daddy around for the week!

21 Months Old

Addison, Bryce and Collin are now 21 months old and I find myself saying no, get down, and be nice a lot more these days. It is definitely monkey see, monkey do around here which can stress mommy and daddy out! With the nice weather we have gone outside almost everyday. They love being outside and its usually a struggle to get them to come inside. We love hearing them say mama and daddy but I cannot count the number of times a day we hear repeatedly mama mama and daddy daddy!

Addison and Collin have yet to have their first hair cuts but Bryce got a much needed 2nd hair cut Thursday!

During his first hair cut he sat very still and didn't mind Valerie messing with his hair. This time he wasn't as patient. I caught him sitting still here because I tried to bribe him with snacks and a drink.

Story time with Miss Lou Lou

Now that the kids are getting a little older I have really tried to get them out and about a little more. The last few weeks we have gone to the library during pre-school story time with Miss Lou Lou. I love story time just as much as the kids if not more. Not only do I get a chance to chat with other moms but Miss Lou Lou does a great job of singing songs, telling stories and entertaining the crowd with her puppets! Collin is very attentive and will sit with the other kids the whole time taking in everything Miss Lou Lou is doing. Addison has done pretty good but usually wants to sit with mommy. The first time we went Bryce was running down the isles pulling books off the shelf but this week he sat in my lap with Addison and paid attention most of the time.

Last Saturday we went to Cowboy Caleb's 3rd birthday party, he had real horses that we weren't real sure about, lots of fun toys for us to play with and he gave us real cowboy hats. We love hats so we have been wearing our cowboy hats all week.

In my last post I mentioned that Addison had a great platelet count but two other levels were low. Dr. Lakshmi did a blood test that day and called me yesterday with the results. Addison's hemoglobin was low and she feels she is anemic. She wants us to put Addison on a high protien diet and she called in a perscription for iron supplements. We will see Dr. Lakshmi again in 3 months so we can check her levels again but hopefully this shouldn't be an ongoing thing like the platelets were. Thankfully this is treatable and non life threatening but it is one more hurdle we have to cross!

Our last trip to TCH

On the 16th we made (hopefully) our last trip to Texas Children's. Addison had an appointment with Dr. Lakshmi her hemotologist and Bryce had a follow up appointment with Dr.Yen his opthamologist. Both doctors are in the TCH Clinic building so it was convenient to schedule them the same day. It was an early morning for us leaving at 6am but the day couldn't have gone any better.

Addison's platelet counts were still in the normal range (322) so Dr. Lakshmi felt she out grew the ITP. There is a chance it can reoccur but we know all of the signs to watch for so we are not too concerned about it. That was the good news the bad news was she had two other low levels but Dr. Lakshmi thought it was more than likely caused from a virus so we will check those later with our pediatrician just to make sure. If all is well then we shouldn't have to go back! YEAH!!!

Bryce wasn't happy about getting his eyes dialated

Bryce had a follow up with Dr. Yen because during his check up a year ago he was slightly far sided and she had a concern that he would have problems. We weren't really concerned about his vision but we kept his follow up appointment to make sure. His vision was great and Dr. Yen didn't think we would need to see her again unless the pediatrican found it necessary. YEAH!!!

While we were in Houston Collin had a fun day with Aunt Dee. He got to take his cousins to school, go to the library to see Ms. LouLou and play with Brandon all afternoon.

20 Months Old

Addison, Bryce and Collin are now 20 months old and keeping Steven and I on our toes! I think we've child proofed everything in this house but they still find things to get into! They are starting to talk a lot more and will even repeat things we say every now and then, I guess its time to start watching what we say! They are starting to get a little helpful at picking up their toys. Somedays they help really well and we get everything put away and then one of them will pick up a box full of toys we just picked up and dump it out again so I guess we still have some work to do.

Addison will not get out of her bed most days without her blankets! She loves her shoes but will pull them off, tell me uh-oh and want me to put them right back on. She also likes to walk around in mommy's shoes. Addison weighs 23lbs. and has 10 teeth.

Bryce runs to his bedroom when we tell him its nite-nite time but only to run in the room before us so he can hide, usually behind the cribs so we have to crawl back there to get him. He weighs 29lbs and has 12 teeth and two more coming in which is part of the reason we've had som sleepless nights!

Collin's favorite word is huh! It drives me CRAZY when we ask him a question and he says "huh". You repeat the question and he says it again, "huh"! It was cute the first 500 times but now I want to scream when he says it. Collin is 23lbs and has 16 teeth

Snow Day

Our children are definitely Texans! We thought they would be in awe of the snow, making a snowman and throwing snow balls but we were completely wrong. They hated the cold and snow. The best part of the day was daddy getting to stay at home with us for the day. After breakfast we bundled everyone up and I guess Steven and I were more excited about the snow than the kids. In Texas we seldom see snow so like many others we get excited when it actually snows here. We opened the door and Addison, Bryce and Collin immediately ventured outside but weren't sure what to do. Once Addison stepped in the snow she stopped in her tracks and cried until we brought her back in the house. Collin cried and reached for Steven to pick him up. He let Steven carry him around for a little bit but wanted back inside as soon as Addison went back in the house. In his defense he had two ear infections and wasn't in the best of moods. Bryce was our only adventurous one, he walked around with Steven and I checking out the snow and ice! His mood quickly changed when I made him get out of the street so we quickly went back in the house and that was the extent of our fun in the snow!

Crib Tents

Monkey see monkey do! It didn't take Bryce and Addison long to figure out how to climb up on the rail of their cribs, they never made it out of the beds but it was only a matter of time. When Steven and I realized all three were climbing out we quickly assembled the crib tents and put them on the beds. The tents may not look pretty but they are very functional and give us a piece of mind that our little monkeys can't get out of their beds. I think its also helped them sleep better. Before the tents they would play with each other and throw their pillows and blankets into each others beds. We would hear them playing for a while before they would fall asleep or they would wake each other up. Bryce was a little mad at first when he realized he couldn't throw his blanket out but I think they are starting to like it.

Our Little Monkey

Our little monkey has figured out how to climb out of his crib! I found this out yesterday when he was supposed to be napping. I heard several noises coming from their room so I went to check on them and found Collin out of bed and he had "trashed" the room. All of the books were pulled off the book shelf, the humidifer was turned upside down and leaking all over the floor, and he was handing Addison things in her bed. I was hoping it was a one time thing but he proved me wrong today during nap time and climbed out almost immediately! I had to put him back in bed twice and I watched him climb up and down on the crib railing at least 5 times. Steven and I weren't sure what to do so I called on a friend with triplets to find out how to handle our new challenge. She suggested crib tents and loaned us hers so we will find out soon if we can contain our little monkey!

19 Months Old

Last week Addison, Bryce and Collin turned 19 months old and its hard to believe that soon we will be planning yet another birthday party for them.

Just before their 19 month birthday we went to see Dr. Draehn for our well check up and shots. We also got an update on weights, heights, and percentiles.

Addison's

Weight 22lbs -20%tile

Height 31 1/4in -40%tile

Addison loves peas and will eat them double fisted. She is a mother hen and makes sure the boys have food, drinks or toys. She is a momma's girl and wants to be with me even around the house.

Bryce's

Height 33in -70%tile

Bryce likes tomatoes even though Addison and Collin won't touch them. He is either in a really good mood or he can be a grouch when he is tired or hungry, but who isn't! Most of the time he is pretty layed back and will go with the flow.

Collin's

Weight 22lbs -10%tile

Height 32in -40%tile

Collin likes avocados and ate a whole avocado by himself. He has learned what time out is and as a result has not bit as much lately (fingers crossed)! He is very possessive over his cozy coupe.

We had family over on the 7th to watch the Cotton Bowl Game. It wasn't the outcome we hoped for but look at these cute cousins having fun!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas and are so blessed to have so many family and friends to share the holidays with. After 8 Christmas gatherings we are finally catching up on rest and getting ready to get back into our regular routine. The babies really enjoyed opening presents this year but in typical one year old fashion they were too busy playing after the first present that they didn't want to open anything else. I feel like I didn't get a lot of pictures at any one place but here is a combination of our Christmas festivities.

17 & 18 Months Old

Addison, Bryce and Collin are very busy 18 month olds. They love to watch out the window when someone is coming to the door or leaving. They understand a lot and will go get things we ask for like a ball, blanket, pillow, baby, etc. They will make sounds like a puppy dog, choo choo, moo cow, and baa like a goat. They can say a few words like bye bye, Daddy, Mama, and sometimes no but mostly still babble or talk in their own language. They play well together if Mommy and Daddy aren't in the room, if we are around they are fighting over our attention!

Addison-

-is very strong willed and will throw a fit if things don't go her way!

-loves girly things and sports her bracelets and purse like she is a princess

-clings to Mommy and sometimes Daddy in places with a lot of people

-loves books

-loves her blankets and will carry them around not letting go even if she is doing other things

-will help gather things like bottles

Bryce-

-weighs 27lbs (I only know his because he went to the doctor this week)

-loves when his Daddy tickles his tummy

-will hide and sit really quiet and still so he can't be found

-is usually the first to wake up

-is very easy going and will go with the flow

Collin-

-will sit and try to put his pants, shoes, and socks on all by himself. Even Mommy, Daddy and Addison's shoes.

-is very mean to Bryce and Addison and will hit, kick, bite, and pull them down to the floor.

-likes to say Daddy

-is so cute shaking his finger "no"

Christmas Decorations

This year I have been looking forward to Christmas and how excited the babies would be when they saw the lights and Santa and all the presents under the tree. I was so excited I got out the Christmas decorations the week before Thanksgiving. I have gone all out and decorated a little in each room thinking the babies would be in awe of the lights and sparkle but much to my disappointment they pay very little attention to it (which is probably best). In reality they are still not going to realize that Santa came and left their presents under the tree, the boxes and paper will be more fun than the actual gifts and you saw their reaction to Santa but none the less I've tried to make it special!

Santa Pictures

Saturday we took the babies downtown to see Santa and lets just say they weren't too fond of the white bearded man in the red suit! I kind of expected the tears and screaming so that didn't bother me but it drives me crazy that they put their hands in their mouth anytime we try to get pictures! Like my friend Jamie says, maybe next year!

Addison immediately didn't want anything to do with Santa. Bryce and Collin took a good look and then decided they didn't want to sit with Santa either!

At least we got everyone looking at the camera!

After we saw Santa we walked around downtown and let the babies get out some energy. We thought the downtown Christmas tree would be a good photo opportunity but they were having too much fun to sit still for a picture.

Bryce was in desperate need of a hair cut. As Valerie combed it out it was so long it covered his ears. I had her leave a few of the curls in the back because I just couldn't part with them yet but he doesn't look shaggy anymore. He did so well and sat in the chair all by himself like a big boy and didn't cry once. Afterwards he loved all the attention from the ladies, helped sweep, watch mommy get her hair washed and cut, and of course got a special treat for being such a good boy.
